Reflection for the month of August, 2022
Class: III Section: A Subject: Mathematics Subject: Prisms and Pyramids.
Goal: At the end of the lesson, the child will be able to recognize and distinguish between prisms and pyramids
Before writing a discussion on integrating ICT into my teaching and learning process. Let me briefly describe the subjects, classes and subjects that I have taught. On August 23, 2022, I was teaching mathematics in grades III. The subjects were Prisms and Pyramids. Ever since the kids first learned about prisms and pyramids. What I did was instead of teaching them a new subject, I let them watch it on YouTube so they could explore it on their own. So, I took students to an IT lab and asked them to do their own research. From my observations, I have found that integrating ICT into the learning process has both strengths and weaknesses. Some of the benefits I have found or observed: Students are more engaged in their work when ICT is integrated into the classroom. This is because technology offers different ways to make learning the same thing different ways more fun and enjoyable. Student-centered learning takes place and motivates children. Children love to play with computers, so naturally they want to learn more.
A few drawbacks I observed were some students browsing her website unnecessarily and some students not understanding the lessons due to their language accent.
So, from my personal point of view, the advantages of ICT integration outweigh the disadvantages.
